Istria is a large and popular peninsula on the northwest of Croatia bordering Slovenia, the Italian Province Trieste, the Adriatic Sea and the Kvarner Gulf. It is an area with sleepy fishing villages, hill towns and tourist beach resorts; a place to party, to relax or to experience the real Greek life.

Umag's hinterland is known as the adventure capital of Istria with activities ranging from hiking (Ucka mountain range), mountaineering to caving. You can visit the beautiful fishing village Novigrad with its Medieval walled old city center. Porec is one of Croatia's most touristic villages with an old historic Roman center, the picturesque Euphrasius Basilica, beautiful beaches and the magnificent Lim Fjords inside Lim Channel. Pula is one of the largest towns and nearby Istria's only airport. It is a flourishing city with Roman ruins including temples, amphitheaters, gates and churches. You can visit the nearby Brijuni Islands, a beautiful National Park consisting out of 14 islets, and the mummified saints in Vodnjan. The hilltop town Labin on the east side of Istria is known for its 17th century palaces and delicious truffles. Rabac near the coast, often nicknamed the Pearl of Kvarner, is one of Istria's popular beach resort towns, flocked with package tourists in summer. At Brestova you can easily arrange visits to the wild island of Cres. Other interesting sights and excursions are Pazin, the harbor of Motovun, Buje and truffle capital Buzet.

Divers are blessed with clear blue waters and plenty of shipwrecks surrounding the shores of Istria. The famous wreck Baron Gautsch near Lovinj attracts thousands of scuba divers each year, especially in summer. But the area near Pula and the Brioni Islands offer beautiful reefs, plenty of Mediterranean reef fish and stunning coral formations. The dive destinations Istria offers fantastic diving all around its coast.
