Brač is the largest island in Dalmatia, well adapted to tourism with resort towns as well as private villas, with excellent beaches and plenty of sun. It is a hilly, rocky and dry island separated from its neighbors Split, Solta and Hvar by the Splitska Vrata (Split Channel) and Hvar Channel. The southern side of Brač is where the town Bol with its Dominican Monastery is situated, mainly popular because of the world famous beach Zlatni Rat (Golden Cape, some say Golden Horn). Although this beach is one of the best in Croatia you can find many other pretty spots such as Paklina FKK Beach with its smooth pebbles and the nice beaches and coves between the towns Supetar and Sumartin on the east side of Brac. Those who prefer a more secluded holiday can take a look at the villages Splitska, Milna, Pučisca or Škrip.
Bol is also one of the best known windsurfing areas with its constant Adriatic northwestern summer wind. You can explore mount Vidova Gora or Mount St. Vid, with 780 meters, the highest spot of all of the Croatian Islands. Popular places for scuba diving are the caves in Lucice Bay and just east of Bol near Zlatni Rat. You can find amber jacks, octopus, huge gorgonians and hard corals. Its warm waters are real treats for divers.
